The beauty of AiM is that the exercises are based around movements we make when we walk. AiM™ is a powerful assessment and correction tool based on gait analysis and foot function. All clients at KinAesthetics undergo a gait assessment in their initial Session. Why? Because joints in the body do not function in isolation, but rather in a complex choreography which depends on balance, symmetry, and timing. When those elements are lost, it can lead to pain anywhere in the body. A comprehensive global approach to pain resolution means not only assessing that painful shoulder, but ensuring that the shoulder is functioning appropriately within the context of larger movement patterns so that you do not begin feeding dysfunction back into it the moment you walk out the door. At the heart of the AiM™ corrective approach is an emphasis on proper foot function. During most human movement, the foot is the only body part in contact with the ground. Thus, the brain relies heavily on information from the foot to coordinate movement at every other joint in the body. It is not an exaggeration to say that if your foot is not functioning properly, then no joint in your body is functioning properly. Breema bodywork is comfortable, enjoyable, relaxing and re-vitalizing. Received fully clothed on a padded floor, this method uses comfortably supported movements which include firm yet gentle stretches, gradual leans into the muscles, nurturing brushes, holds and a wide variety of playfully rhythmic movements.
The Pilates method, originally developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900’s, currently enjoys widespread recognition in both the fitness community and the medical profession. Pilates mat and equipment work are taught in both the class format and in private sessions. The work emphasizes core conditioning and correct alignment while increasing flexibility, joint mobility, stability and coordination.
The exercises consist of a system of sequential and carefully performed movements designed to stretch fascia and strengthen muscles, open joints and release tension. Goals are accomplished through a parallel evolution of awareness and movement.
